Established under an arrangement concluded at the diplomatic conference in Nice on June 15, 1957, the international classification of goods and services for the purposes of registration was revised in 1967, 1977, and 2000.
This classification ensures a normative and harmonized system for classifying goods and services for registration and facilitates trademark searches.

Class 1: Industrial and scientific chemicals

Chemicals used in industry, science, photography, as well as in agriculture, horticulture and forestry; unprocessed artificial resins, unprocessed plastics; fire extinguishing and fire prevention compositions; preparations for tempering and soldering metals; tanning substances for hides and animal skins; adhesives [sticky substances] used in industry; mastics and other paste fillers; composts, fertilizers; biological preparations used in industry and science.

Class 2: Paints, varnishes and dyes
